As an educator of eight years, I am committed to continually seeking out opportunities that will not only help me grow professionally but also enhance the educational experience for my students, to support their development as global citizens. When I think about creating a learning environment that fosters 21st Century skills, I recognize the importance of integrating technology into instruction, providing my students with opportunities for global collaboration, and empowering them through student-centered differentiation.
I currently serve as a 4/5 multi-age educator at Giddens School in Seattle, WA. In addition to being a 4/5 classroom teacher, I also serve as the Technology Lead Teacher for my school. As the Technology Lead Teacher, I collaborate with our Technology Director, as well as with classroom teachers, to help support technology integration into our K-5 classrooms.
I strive to motivate and engage my students through lessons that promote critical thinking, provide authentic learning experiences, and strengthen their problem-solving skills. I am a life-long learner, have an enthusiasm for technology, and I am passionate about providing my students with authentic, meaningful learning experiences.
I believe in fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment, that supports social justice, and is a space where students can achieve success and strengthen their identity as members of a global community. As an enthusiastic, motivated educator, I want to empower my students through leading by example. My passion for digital education, educational philosophy, and a pursuit of professional growth goals, has led me to Seattle Pacific University, where I am currently a graduate student in the M.Ed. in Digital Educational Leadership program.
This blog will be used to share my journey and reflections through this program, while also serving as evidence of competency in the program standards.
